telegram client for android
cherrygram next
a fork of cherrygram, which is itself a fork of telegram for android. it continues from the last snapshot cherrygram published before its source stopped being updated.
the work so far has been catching up and taking things out. it is built on telegram 12.10.1, and it installs as com.the306bobby.cherrygramnext, so it sits next to cherrygram rather than replacing it.
status
no releases yet
there is nothing to download today. the first build will be a release candidate, not a stable one. when it exists it will be on the repository'sreleases page.
what came out
these came out of the fork:
- talsec freerasp, the anti-tamper sdk cherrygram bundled
- huawei/hms support
- the donation system, including the previous maintainer's payment details
- hardcoded privileges for the previous maintainer's accounts: a restart those accounts could trigger by sending a link, delete protection on two chats, and a bypass for the lockscreen prompt
- a remotely fetched sticker blocklist, which let a third party change what users saw
firebase
firebase is used for push notifications only. analytics is off by default, the crashlytics plugin is not applied, and remote config is never initialised. theprivacy policy covers where your data actually goes, and it is kept in the project's own repository.
